Restoring an Old and Tattered Workbench to Perfection
In this day and age, manufacturing has gotten so good and affordable that it can be easy to just head out and purchase something brand new when an old item wears out. Of course, heading down to the local hardware store and buying something brand new is going to be a lot easier than a full-blown restoration effort.
However, there are some folks who will go to some pretty crazy lengths in order to make the most out of what they have. Sometimes, when you learn the value of a dollar, trying to make the most out of everything can become quite a habit.
This time, we check in with a process that takes an old workbench, something that most folks wouldn’t look twice at, and brings it new life. The finished product is something that is really awe-inspiring. In most cases, we wouldn’t think that a workbench would be a conversation piece but when we see the craftsmanship that brings together this particular unit, we can’t help but feel like anyone who sees it would be gawking over it. In fact, I would personally feel pretty bad using it as a workbench after seeing the effort that went into bringing it back to life.
At the end of the day, it’s not really clear if this restoration was for practical reasons or for the sake of a YouTube video. In any case, it’s still pretty satisfying to watch as this decades-old workbench sheds off those years of use and becomes something to be incredibly proud of.
Down in the video below, we tune in with Restoration Station who takes us through every step of the way, showing us that sometimes, you don’t have to go out there and replace your tools to have them feel like new again.
