187 Customs Brings us NPK Round 10 Behind the Scenes
Sometimes, drag racing or any form of racing, for that matter, really has a way of providing ups and downs. There are very few racers who can climb to the number one position and consistently stay there. Don’t get me wrong, when it comes to the No Prep Kings circuit, there are certain racers who we expect to be at the top which is entirely impressive. However, everybody has their stumbles here and there.
Over the past couple of races, for the Murder Nova crew, there have definitely been quite a few stumbles. Two races ago, we would watch the Chevrolet Nova make its way down the track only to go up in flames at NPK Idaho.
Fortunately, the extent of the damage wasn’t that bad and the Chevy would make its way back out for No Prep Kings in Tucson.
While Tucson wasn’t cruel enough to throw fire in the direction of Murder Nova, it certainly wasn’t friendly, either. After putting the car back out on the track following a couple of repairs, Shawn Ellington was ready to do battle in between the walls. As it turned out, though, the car wasn’t exactly rolling in the same state of mind.
Instead, it turned out that a slight curveball would be thrown in the direction of Murder Nova as the event didn’t exactly go as according to plan. Even though it was an incredibly small issue at the end of the day, let’s just say that winning wasn’t on the agenda when all was said and done. We’re sure that a little tweak is a lot less heartbreaking than catastrophe but it still has to eat at a team investing this much effort in their racing program.
By following along with the video below, we get an up-close and personal view of how Murder Nova and company made their way through the event in Tuscon. While it wasn’t exactly ideal, things certainly could have been much worse. Fortunately, it seems as if everything is looking up for Murder Nova as No Prep Kings heads to Bandimere Speedway on October 1-2 before the final showdown at Texas Motorplex on October 15-16.
