The Iconic “Grave Digger” is Becoming a Stock Car, Hitting NASCAR Track in This Weekend’s Race

In the world of Monster Jam, the names don’t get much bigger than Grave Digger. Even those who aren’t the biggest fans of monster truck competition are probably at least somewhat familiar with this machine. In fact, we might even go so far as to call it the face of Monster Jam and perhaps its biggest household name.

Over the years, Grave Digger has been passed on from generation to generation in the Anderson family. This time, the monstrous machine that is beloved worldwide is going to be passed on to another format. It’s not exactly the off-road stunt riding form that we’ve become used to from the truck but it is a heck of a lot faster.

For Father’s Day, Keelan Harvick, the son of NASCAR Cup Series competitor, Kevin Harvick, decided to surprise dad with a little bit of monster mayhem as it made its way to the number 4 car.

As NASCAR heads to Nashville this weekend, we will find the number 4 Ford Mustang clad in the Grave Digger paint scheme. It’s pretty neat to see a prominent NASCAR team switch up the appearance of their car every once in a while, especially when it pays tribute to such an iconic machine-like Grave Digger. This is certainly a good way to sell a little merch as well. I mean who wouldn’t want a diecast version of this wicked paint scheme!?

Down in the video below, we check in as Harvick gets his first glance at the interesting paint job that is surely going to pop this weekend in Nashville. This will be the first time that the sport has made its way to middle Tennessee in a decade.

The green flag will drop this Sunday at 3:30 PM ET. For those looking to tune in and see the Monster Jam scheme in action, they’ll find it on NBC Sports.
