Chevy Drops 1000 HP Naturally Aspirated Crate Engine (It’s a 10 Liter!)
When it comes to crate engine selections, there are a lot of fun things to choose from. However, Chevrolet decided that they wanted to add one more option to the gamut as they come with their biggest and most potent offer to date.
This time, up for discussion, we dig into the brand spanking new ZZ632. As the name implies, the engine will be a 632 cubic inch big block. For those who don’t have their calculators out, that’s over 10 L of displacement, 10.3 L to be exact.
“This is the biggest, baddest crate engine we’ve ever built,” said Russ O’Blenes, director of the Performance and Racing Propulsion Team in a quote pulled from Road & Track. He continues, “The ZZ632 sits at the top of our unparalleled crate engine lineup as the king of performance. It delivers incredible power, and it does it on pump gas.”
In other words, this seems like an application that should provide a similar upside to something like Dodge’s 1000 hp Hellephant engine. However, instead of a supercharger perched on top, this thing will be all motor. When push comes to shove, the final numbers will come at 6600 RPM when the engine makes a peak of 1004 hp. It’ll also be capable of 876 pound-feet of torque.
The big block comes with eight port Injectors and high flow CNC machined aluminum heads with symmetrical ports. It certainly is an awesome day in hot riding when an enthusiast can head straight to the dealership and purchase a turnkey package that will create 1000 hp.
Down in the video below from wngZL1a, we check out an overview of the release along with a sound clip as Chevrolet has been teasing the engine.
So, if you’re looking for 1000 hp would you rather go with the all motor big block application or something like the Hellephant that delivers 1000 supercharged horsepower?
