Ford Just Dropped a 2,000 HP “Super Van” – You’re Going to Want to See This
Here in the high-performance automotive community, we can say one thing for certain – the electric vehicle is controversial.
With part of the community fully invested in just how incredible of an output electric motors can produce and the other half shutting down anything electric before they even look at it, it’s an issue that’s probably going to surge on for the foreseeable future.
So, let’s stick to the facts.
One thing that we do know for sure is that whether someone likes EVs or not, electric-powered platforms can make some pretty incredible power. Not only that but the power is delivered all at once and on demand which makes them much more responsive drivers. In other words, the control is in the driver’s hands which theoretically should make them much more efficient around a track as well with the right wheelman.
In order to show off just how much power they can make and how wicked such a setup can be in a racing scenario, Ford decided to stuff 2000 hp and 1300 lb-ft of electric torque into a van.
The end product is what Ford calls the Ford Transit SuperVan. It is the fourth rendition of the SuperVan that has been a concept that has been passed down from generation to generation. The original version fused together a Ford Transit with a Ford GT40 and each rendition of the van has evolved to maintain the original spirit of the project with updated components.
The vehicle acts as a halo project to help promote the Ford E-Transit, a van that isn’t quite as cool but provides a practical electric-powered delivery van.
Down in the video below from Top Gear, we get to go over the build with a fine tooth comb, showing all of the features of this electric supercar slayer that has been turning heads.
With the help of 4 electric motors, 4wd, and 50kwh liquid-filled batteries that can last for 35 km at race pace, this is one awesome step toward unlocking the full potential of the performance EV.
