Remembering Queen Elizabeth II Through Her Epic Car Collection

Queen Elizabeth II has passed away today, September 8, 2022, as announced by Buckingham Palace. BBC says that Elizabeth’s family gathered this week after concerns about her health arose early on Thursday. Buckingham Palace reports that the queen died peacefully Thursday afternoon.

Her son, now King Charles III said, in a statement, “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

The queen is perhaps the most famous to ever serve the position and acted as the longest-serving queen as well. She came to the throne in 1952 and has since been a part of many monumental changes in society. Elizabeth was highly regarded for the courage to put her foot down and speak up for what she believed in during an era when women didn’t have as much of a voice and couldn’t as easily access the power and respect can gather today.

One thing that hits close to home here in the automotive community as it appears as if Elizabeth was a bit of a car enthusiast herself. One would think that a queen would be chauffeured around at all times. However, QEII decided to live her life a little bit differently than one might imagine for a member of royalty. Not only did she frequently hop behind the wheel herself as she was more comfortable driving in some situations. She also showcased a pretty awesome collection of automobiles, some of which might just have enthusiasts impressed.

Some of the highlights of the collection include a Rolls-Royce, a variety of Land Rover options, and even a 600 hp Bentley Bentayga among other cars. We would certainly say that’s a collection that operates with pretty good tastes.

In celebration of the life of the late, great queen, the video below dives into some of the awesome moments in the life of Queen Elizabeth II.
