Ride Along With the Most Exciting SUV Release in Years – The Escalade V
Don’t look now but if actions speak louder than words, the performance truck market might sneakily be making another run.
It seems like performance trucks and SUVs are something that some automakers have dabbled in but have never really put their foot all the way to the floorboard. For example, General Motors hasn’t really committed themselves to produce a performance SUV without massive gaps in the schedule. For those who were around in the early 90s, they remember the GMC Typhoon. This awesome SUV stuck around for a whole two-year stretch and would be succeeded by the Chevrolet Trailblazer SS which also had a pretty short run.
Apparently, though, the General is back at it again with a high-performance version of the Cadillac Escalade. That’s right, folks, Cadillac slapped a V badge on the side of its most luxurious SUV, put some muscle under the hood, and is going to give this model a chance at a high-performance legacy.
This time, for those who have been curious about the Escalade V, Doug DeMuro takes a complete tour of the truck, pointing out all of its quirks and features along with telling us about how this thing really performs. With 680 hp along with 650 lb-ft of torque to play with, this thing is certainly making a lot of mustard. However, how well that will translate to a heavy-weight SUV being fun to drive is yet to be determined.
Down in the video below, we get a tour of all of the tech and luxury that one would expect in an Escalade. We also get the review of what one it has yet to expect in an Escalade and that’s the high-performance aspect. So is this thing just kind of quick for an SUV or does it feel like a high-performance sports car? DeMuro tells all in this revealing video.
