Automotive YouTube creator, Doug DeMuro, has taken us on some wild rides over the years. As it turns out, when DeMuro goes out fishing for some of the most obscure cars that the road has ever seen, he usually catches some pretty interesting examples. From the super rare to the super new release, there is a wide variety of cars over the years that Doug has shed new light on for those who watch, giving us an idea of what exactly it is that makes each car that he goes over something special and unique.

This time, we check out a car that is absolutely obscure, indeed. In fact, we might even argue that a lot of fans of Aston Martin’s supercars might not know that this alleged exotic car even existed.

On the outside, some who pass by the Aston Martin Cygnet might mistake it for a Smart Car. However, the model is very much an Aston Martin.

Doug tells us that the car exists for pretty much one reason only. You see, in Europe, there are emissions regulations that apply to a manufacturer’s entire fleet. Doug denotes that other companies like Ferrari balance out their fleet with other brands under their corporate umbrella such as Fiat. Another prime example is a company like Porsche which balances out its high-performance offering with the Volkswagen brand which is also under the same umbrella.

Because Aston is riding solo, though, this is how they have to balance out their brand to satisfy Europe’s government.
