Tony Stewart to Compete Full Time in NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster

Apparently, at 51 years old, Tony Stewart isn’t done chasing down championships just yet. Best known for his career in NASCAR and the IndyCar Series, the racing icon has stacked up 13 titles and is ready to take down number 14. After winning titles as both owner and driver throughout his career, we aren’t sure just how many racing frontiers are left to conquer for Stewart.

Stewart made his top alcohol dragster debut last year at the NHRA Nevada nationals. In 2023, he plans to go full-time, saying that he wants to get some experience and eventually chase down a little bit of extra hardware for the trophy case.

It can be difficult to hop into a new racing format and have success. However, Stewart nearly took home first place in his debut in Nevada, finishing as runner-up after making the faster pass in the finals but losing on the tree by .004 seconds and ultimately finding a second place due to a .002-second margin of defeat. That literally amounts to about an inch or two at the finish line. It’s the ultimate heartbreaker but at the end of the day, the performance was not too shabby for somebody who had never competed on such a stage before.

The grand opening for this promising NHRA career led fans to wonder what the future would hold for Stewart and in 2023, we will find out just that.

If Nevada was any indication of what’s to come, we would imagine that there is a Wally or two for Stewart in the future.

The 2023 NHRA season is quickly approaching with the ever popular Gatornationals kicking off in Gainesville, FL March 9-12. If there’s one storyline that we would keep a close eye on, this is most certainly it. Can the racing legend find a way to keep collecting trophies? Time will tell and we will most certainly be tuned in to find out.
