Motorcycle Rider Rescues Injured Bald Eagle From Middle of Busy Highway
A Pennsylvania man was riding along the highway, presumably on a motorcycle, when he noticed that traffic had backed up. Likely expecting some sort of accident ahead, the man would proceed to see what was happening. However, there was no automotive accident but instead, an injured animal was in the middle of the highway which was stopping traffic.
The reason for the backup wasn’t a crash but instead, an injured Bald Eagle was in the middle of the busy highway. At this point, the soon-to-be rescuer decided that he had to hop to action. It was then that he would wrap the eagle up in a flannel shirt and sit with the bird for 45 minutes, waiting for rescue to come. Strangely enough, the bird of prey didn’t attack the man but instead, the rescuer says that the eagle was completely calm as they waited for help. Given that the Eagle would typically swallow small mammals without a second thought, it’s quite fascinating that the man was able to sit calmly with the bird.
A local nonprofit by the name of Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research stepped in to attempt to revive the bird. Upon heading back to their offices, the bird would be found to have suffered a wing injury and abrasions but they managed to get her all fixed up. At the time of the video, she was said to be resting and recovering. However, the bird was scheduled to be released into the wild just a few days later after recovering fully.
It’s certainly not every day that you come across a Bald Eagle in Pennsylvania. Furthermore, situations like this just seem even more obscure. However, it is incredibly fortunate that one brave good Samaritan stepped up and decided to go out there to attempt to help the Eagle.
