POV: High Speed Downhill Trike Racing Gets Intense
If we were to slap you on a trike with nothing but a seat and a set of handlebars, how fast would you be willing to go? Oh yeah, and we aren’t talking about a trike like the ones that are similar to a motorcycle. We’re talking about a small drift trike, close to the ground, without an engine. You will, however, get a set of pedals.
If you were heading down Passo San Boldo or “The San Boldo Pass,” as we see in this video, we’re looking at speeds of around 60kph. That’s about 40 mph!
Now, if you’re in your car, that might not necessarily be so fast. However, if you’re low to the ground with nothing around you for protection, it seems to be quite the adrenaline rush.
This time, we check in with a variety of trike riders as they go for a wild race down the mountain pass in Italy at the southern edge of the Alps. Not only are these competitors just a couple of feet from each other as they battle it out for position. They also have some pretty dangerous parts of the course where quite the fall is lurking right over the edge.
By following along with the video below from Mrlotonno7 on YouTube, we got to get the first person point of view that carries us through this race and gives us a taste of what it’s like. At the end of the day, this looks like a great way to spend an afternoon. Not only do we get to enjoy the views of the mountainside circuit but we also get a little bit of competition as well.
So, after watching this one, be sure to tell us if you would be willing to get behind the handlebars and have a rip down this mountain pass.
