You Can Now Buy the Closest Thing to the Supercharged Ford Lightning Since the Year 2000
Those who have been paying attention to the performance offerings at major automakers, in terms of pickup trucks, might have noticed one trend. All of the performance pickup truck offerings happen to come in the form of rides designed to go off of the beaten path a bit. Both the Ram TRX and Ford F-150 Raptor, while awesome machines, both are equipped with lift kits and big, knobby tires designed to help the truck conquer adverse terrain.
While we do feel incredibly fortunate to have factory performance pickup trucks in our lives these days as they seemed to go missing from the landscape for a while, we have kind of been wondering when someone might fulfill the demand for performance street trucks once again.
Apparently, Hennessey Performance just so happened to notice this gap in the marketplace and decided to put together an offering to fill it. With the likes of the Hennessey Venom 775, pickup truck enthusiasts will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of such a performance street truck. Not only does this thing come with a 3.0 L twin-screw supercharger, new intercooler system, and other upgrades that are slated to outperform a factory Ram TRX, says Hennessey. The truck also comes with a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty which most certainly is not something that we see with aftermarket applications like these very often.
The 775 horsepower, 685 lb-ft Venom 775 package does offer an off-road variation. However, those who choose the sport package will have the option of going with a lowering kit and 22-inch wheels to accompany their new, more powerful F-150. We might just go so far as saying that this truck is as close to the supercharged version of the Ford Lightning as we have gotten since the truck stopped being produced back at the turn of the century.
