Corvette C8.R Revs Mystery Engine, Chevrolet Won’t Reveal What it Is
It seems like the folks over at Chevrolet have been rather particular about the information that they let slip about the Chevrolet Corvette. Up until its actual reveal, we had just about nothing on the car. Usually, some sort of leak will have people knowing what they can expect. However, outside of a couple of suspicious pictures that could’ve been anything, we didn’t know what we were getting.
Upon the release, most were in awe as they saw what 2020 Corvette buyers would be getting. It brought something incredibly different to the nameplate that would flip the whole thing on its head. The mid-engine configuration certainly served to stir the pot a bit. In turn, it’s going to be mighty interesting to see how the C8 pans out. With an all-new architecture, there will be a lot to dig into.
This time, we check in with yet another mystery coming from the Corvette camp. The Corvette C8.R is the racing variant of the platform that was designed for endurance racing. One would think that we would have the full rundown on the car at this point in time. However, what’s under the hood has essentially remained under wraps up until this point.
We have heard the v8 power that the consumer version of the Corvette will have to offer. This engine certainly isn’t that. From the note that we hear, we would be shocked to even hear if it were built off of similar architecture. When the engine revs up, it sounds much more like a European supercar than anything America has put out. The sound has the internet stirring with all the possibilities.
When the Petit Le Mans hits Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the beans will finally be spilled on the combination. Stay tuned to Speed Society as the information should be coming any day now.
