2020 Corvette Z51 Finally Gets a Legitimate Track Test
If there’s one company that has really shaken up the performance industry, it’s Chevrolet. With the release of their 2020 Chevrolet Corvette, things are never going to be the same again. To us, it’s pretty crazy just how they went about executing the C8.
When we think back over the years, the Corvette has been Chevrolet’s baby. They really haven’t taken too many chances with it and always put their best foot forward. It seems as if every step has followed the last so far which has since built the Corvette into a cornerstone of performance.
This time, though, Chevrolet did something that not many people saw coming. They took the tried and true and basically threw it in the trash. Instead, they decided to start basically from scratch. Chevrolet was finally building the car that fans had been speculating about for decades.
The new Corvette is nothing like the old one. Heck, the engine isn’t even in the same location within the car. However, it seems as if General Motors was confident enough in their vision in order to completely redesign a legend. With the front-engine design basically being a license to print money, the change was certainly a bold move. Just how good is the result, though?
It’s going to take a while before we can get to a final verdict with how well the mid-engine Corvette does in the market and how it holds up long term. For now, though, Matt Farah is off to a good start. In this episode from The Smoking Tire, we’re able to take a ride with the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z51. This is one of the first outlooks on the platform that really digs down into detail to tell us what it’s all about.
The Corvette is certainly carrying some high expectations. After digging into a video like this, we will begin to unravel the layers to see what it’s actually all about.
