Screaming 700hp ’67 Plymouth GTX, 60mph in the 4’s!

This classic muscle car, a numbers-matching Plymouth 426 Hemi Belvedere GTX, underwent a transformation at Vintage Motorworks. Instead of opting for a motor swap, the owner sought a power upgrade for his ride. Thus, Vintage Motorworks took on the task of crafting it into a roaring street cruiser.

The 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX with its built 426 Hemi engine is a standout among classic muscle cars. Its enduring legacy from the golden age of American muscle still commands respect today. However, the owner felt the need for more power beyond the impressive numbers-matching 426 Hemi engine. Turning to Vintage Motorworks, he envisioned a vehicle that embodies the essence of Mopar muscle – loud, brash, and undeniably badass.

At the core of this transformation lies the engine, meticulously built by the Vintage Motorworks team to the owner’s exacting specifications. They began by enlarging the original 426 Hemi block, equipping it with a forged steel crankshaft, H-beam connecting rods, and custom-designed pistons. Further enhancements included porting and polishing the cylinder heads and installing a custom-grind camshaft for optimized performance.

With these modifications, the engine now boasts over 700 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. This translates to impressive acceleration, propelling the car from 0 to 60 mph in just over 4 seconds, with a quarter-mile time of under 11 seconds. Remarkable feats for a vehicle over half a century old!

The exterior design matches the engine’s prowess, featuring sleek lines and an aggressive stance. A deep metallic blue paint job coupled with chrome accents adds flair to the car’s overall aesthetic. Inside, bucket seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and classic gauges exude sophistication and some Foose Design Wheels.

In summary, the 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX with its built 426 Hemi engine stands as a testament to American engineering prowess. It’s a symbol of power and performance achieved through innovation and passion.
