Bird Boyz Horrific Crash vs Scott Taylor at Tucson Street Outlaws No Prep
Last weekend, following the huge turnout and response to the Bristol No Prep event episode, Discovery Channel took the show west and rolled into Tucson Dragway for another race with a nice fat check for the winner. With another huge group of stars from the show as well as some of the biggest names in no prep racing on the property, that $40,000 check would certainly be earned, with the winner almost guaranteed to have to take out some heavy hitters on the way to the win.

Two names most of you have likely heard were drawn to face each other in this race, caught by our friends over at National No Prep Racing Association. Jerry Bird in the Bird Boyz Probe lined up with Scott Taylor in his new ProCharged Trans Am known as Track Doe, playing off the name of his street raced Cutlass, John Doe. The Street Outlaws New Orleans alums lined up to throw down, with the winner looking at a date with the next round of eliminations while the runner up would head to the trailer and going the spectators for the rest of the night.
However, as is occasionally the case on these unprepared tracks, things took a frightening turn when Jerry went through the 1/8th mile and found himself fighting the car to stay in the middle of the groove. For whatever reason, be it lack of traction, parts breakage, or a strong crosswind, the Probe made a pronounced move toward the wall in Bird’s lane. As he fought to keep the car off the wall, it shot hard right toward Taylor, who luckily just managed to get out of the way before the Probe came into his lane.
The car rolled up onto its side and actually slammed into the right side wall with the bottom of the chassis, then skidded quite a ways on its side before tumbling over onto the wheels. You can see the safety crew rolling toward the scene before the car even comes to a compete stop, and Jerry would walk away from the scene unscathed, a testament to the excellent safety equipment in the car.
