Building at Jerry Bickels Race Shop Goes Up in Flames! Fire Caused $1,000,000 in Total Loss
Moscow Hills, Missouri-based chassis builder Jerry Bickel Race Cars suffered a huge loss on Saturday when a building on the property caught fire, resulting in over one million dollars in damage.
The building in question – highlighted in the attached Google Maps image – was a 4,000 square foot structure that was detached from the main chassis fabrication shop, contained several race cars, an RV and trailer rig, and assorted parts, machinery and equipment. Firefighters were dispatched to the property when the security system alerted authorities to a burglar alarm, which summoned law enforcement to the scene. Upon arrival, the officer noticed smoke coming from the building and called for firefighters. A review of surveillance cameras showed smoke near the ceiling around 10:15 AM, and the camera failed seven minutes later, likely due to heat from the fire.
Everything in the building was deemed a total loss, and preliminary investigations point to an electrical issue as the source of the blaze. Fortunately nobody was in the building at the time, and no injuries were reported. As far as we have been able to gather, the fire will not interrupt work at the fabrication shop. We wish the Bickel team the best as they recover from this devastating incident. Photo Credit – Lincoln County Fire Protection District #1 and Crystal Photography
