The Final Lexus IS F Has Rolled Off The Line

The Lexus IS F is no more. While that’s no surprise, the final example—a blue car destined for a lucky U.S. customer—was built in Japan last week, marking the end of production of the car.

Based on the last-generation IS sedan platform, the IS F was an unusual mix of old-school muscle and new-school technology, blending a 5.0-liter V-8 engine good for 416 horsepower with some of Lexus’ most advanced electronic chassis controls.
Fortunately for fans of Japanese speed, there will be something coming to replace it—sort of. The RC F will take the IS F’s four-doored performance back into two-door territory, and will preserve the 5.0-liter V-8 engine, while bumping power output up to 450 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque.
