FuelTech On Board to Help Laughlin in Effort to Retain Radial vs the World Crown
Ladies and gentlemen, the time is finally upon us. One of the biggest events of the year has rolled in and testing is underway. When it comes to the spotlight, it doesn’t get much brighter than Lights Out. On Thursday, it’ll be time to put up or shut up. Drivers will need to prove that they’re worthy of the show on the weekend.
There are plenty of heavy hitters that make their way to the event. Among those in the field this year, only one will be trying to retain the title of Lights Out Radial vs the World winner.
With $50,000 on the line last year, Alex Laughlin stepped up to the plate in a big way. With some of the fiercest competition in drag racing, he was able to claw his way to the final round. It was then that he would take down Daniel Pharris is an ending that you couldn’t script if you tried.
Pharris managed a 3.690-second pass at 211.13 mph to Laughlin’s 3.694 at 205.60 mph. However, a crazy .004 reaction time would propel Laughlin to the closest margin of victory in DuckX Productions RvW finals history. Seven-thousandths of a second would separate the two at the finish line. It’s races like these that remind us of why we love drag racing so much and why every last push matters.
This year, Laughlin will be back at the event again, looking for yet another win. This time, though, he’s going to have FuelTech on board. His Chevrolet Corvette has been upgraded with the help of a FuelTech FT600 along with FT Spark cool ignition system, and FuelTech’s wheelie control. Laughlin is hoping that this will give him an edge on a field full of other cars that have been perfecting their setups all year.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have some racing to do! Be sure to tune in this weekend to see how some of the best in the business get down to work.
