Here’s Why the Ferrari F40 Is Worth $1.3 Million
Ferrari’s F40 is one of the most iconic cars to ever roll off the automaker’s Maranello, Italy assembly line. Constructed of carbon kevlar a decade before most of the general public had ever heard of the composite, the F40 was as close as any manufacturer had ever come to building an actual race car for street use.
YouTuber Doug DeMuro, known for his in-depth, no-nonsense reviews of cars from all price ranges and niches, had the distinct honor of driving an F40 and offering up his opinion on the twin turbo supercar. Before climbing in and taking it for a drive, DeMuro offers a great walk around of the car, giving viewers a very intimate look at what makes the F40 so special. It’s obvious from the beginning that the 1.3 million dollar car was not built to wrap the driver in the cushy comfort typically associated with Ferrari’s offerings, but instead is a very thinly veiled racecar gallivanting as a street car. It takes two people to open the engine bay and the hood, if you needed more proof that the car requires a crew to operate.
Of course, nobody bought an F40 for the creature comforts, they bought it for the 500 HP twin turbo V8 and the foot-wide tires and that unmistakeable rear spoiler and the headlights and… yes, I could go on and on here, but you get the point.
The car is exactly what it appears to be. And despite the lack of amenities, it is one of the most sought-after cars of all time. Having climbed from the original price of $400,000 to well over a million, the car is likely to only continue to gain value as it ages. As he’s putting the car through it’s paces around town, DeMuro makes an excellent observation about how many other people are likely to be out driving their F40 at the same time, and when you have to consider the whole country for it to even be a possibility of sharing the road with another ride like yours, that tells you just how rare these cars are.
Overall this is a great video that has some information about the car I personally had never hear, so go ahead and sit back and watch as Doug DeMuro takes this Italian icon out for a spin.
