JJ Da Boss Arm Drop Race – Murder Nova vs Derek in the Silver Unit Camaro!
Season 9 of Street Outlaws ended with Memphis kingpin JJ Da Boss coming to the 405 to throw a party where some street racing broke out. JJ’s Armdrop Drags Shootout was a no-rules, winner-take-all slugfest that saw some great racing from some of the biggest names in the street racing world. In the first round, it seemed like all of the OKC guys drew each other, which made for some familiar races in the early going.
One of those races was Shawn in the Murder Nova taking on Derek in his Silver Unit Camaro. Despite Shawn’s obvious horsepower advantage, Derek had a great shot at taking the upset win with JJ’s rule changes, assuming he was able to take advantage of the loopholes. They lined up, however, and Derek decided to play it pretty straight up, option not to jump the launch and hope Shawn gave chase.

Both cars left hard but the Silver Unit’s nitrous flames went out early, indicating he had to lift because the car was spinning. He got back into the throttle but by that point, it was over as Shawn had pulled out to a big lead that would continue to grow through the 1/8th mile.
It’s hard to say if Derek had anything for Murder Nova, but a loss of traction eliminated any chance he had to find out.
