Pickup Truck Spectator Drags is the Best Thing We Have Ever Seen!
The Spectator Drags have become a trademark of round tracks all around the country. This video comes from Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and has garnered some huge viral traffic for the 1/3rd mile circle track located in Scarborough, Maine. On this particular afternoon, the order of the day was pickups, each one driven by spectators, not actual race car drivers.
What that means is that the action is just as intense, with a lot more edge-of-chaos spilling over into ACTUAL chaos than what we see with the actual racers. The concept is simple: two trucks pull to the start-finish line side-by-side, wait for the green flag to drop, then make a single lap around the track as quickly as possible, hopefully ahead of your opponent. As the races progress, the field is halved each round, with the winners coming back to face each other each subsequent round.
Finally, a sleek black work truck, complete with a big rack in the bed, takes the win in the final round, then treats the crowd to great display of celebration! The winning ride definitely didn’t look like the most ideal truck to take the win on a round track, but the driver did a damn good job of keeping it planted through the turns and took home the big win!
