Ricer Talks Up His 2005 Hyundai Elantra… Camera Man Plays Along!

We all have that one friend, or know that one guy. He has a basically stock car with some minor bolt on mods, maybe a set of wheels, and some decals and graphics stuck on his car, but all his car really amounts to is an econobox that most of us poke fun at. While it is easy to look at this guy as the butt of an endless stream of “ricer” jokes, one thing this type of guy usually has is a burning passion for the hobby, he just may not have the means, the talent or the vision to put together a car the way the rest of us would. What these guys lack in money and originality they often make up for in pure zeal for the automotive hobby, and I’ve found these enthusiastic gearheads can almost always be guided toward a more legitimate execution with a little help from the right folks.

Of course, all of that being said, sometimes these guys are just bound and determined to blaze their own trail and refuse to hear any sort of constructive criticism as anything but “haters hating” on them and their ride. Don’t be that guy. Period. There are always people within the automotive arena that would be more than willing to help you expand your horizons and broaden your skillset to allow you to make your ride something truly special and unique to you. If you find yourself constantly saying “Oh he’s just hating,” consider that all those so-called haters may actually know what is and isn’t innovative and original, or at least acceptable within the industry. Don’t fight them while they’re trying to help you, because you’ll eventually find yourself shunned by the community that you so desperately want to be a part of and you will be left with no guidance or direction.
