V8 Jeep Wrangler Could Soon Hit Dealers Near You
Let’s just say that the Ford Bronco might’ve just turned up the heat on Jeep.
In a too obvious to be coincidental release, Jeep announced some news on the same day that the Bronco was unveiled.
Over the years, the Jeep Wrangler’s engine combo has, well, lacked luster. Don’t get us wrong, though. The Wrangler doesn’t really have all that much to prove. Over the years it has served its role quite well and the sales numbers have reflected that. There’s definitely a reason why the Wrangler has one of the most obsessive followings out of any model of vehicle.
However, if there is one thing that plenty of people interested in the Wrangler have voiced their concerns about, it’s the engine combo. Long story short, they haven’t produced much worth writing home about except the recent addition of the EcoDiesel which is still relatively expensive.
Now the counterargument to Jeeps packing anything with power is that they aren’t a performance vehicle. The lightweight platform is designed to be able to grapple with rough terrain which the Wrangler is arguably one of the best at. However, something or someone apparently sparked a flame under the brand as they seem to have finally caved.
Below, we listen in as The Fast Lane Car talks about the release of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, 6.4L Hemi “concept.” Should this thing end up being produced, it’ll be the first-ever Wrangler to sport a V8 and we can expect an impressive 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque from the 6.4L. Oh yeah and if that’s not enough, the model promises a 0-60 time in less than 5-seconds.
The only remaining question is why the news was released as a concept. Is Jeep just teasing us to steal some of the spotlight? Will we ever actually see this beast in action? I guess only time will tell.
