After 10 Years in Jail, He Gets To Ride in a Fast Car
A lot of things have changed over the past 10 years. Just think back to 2008 and how texting was just text, and people still talked on the phone quite a bit. Facebook was in its awkward growth phase and hadn’t infiltrated every part of our daily lives. It was still dangerous to meet people from the internet and you didn’t ride with strangers. Now you use an app to hail strangers from the internet to take you places in their car. Needless to say, the world has changed.
One significant area that I can personally say I’ve seen huge changes is out very own car community. In 2008, a 1,000 horsepower car was very impressive and cars pushing four-digit power levels were fairly rare, generally speaking. Today, if you show up to a street race with less than 1,000 horsepower, you’re likely the guy with the camera chasing behind the cars that are actually racing.
Thanks to the huge advances in fuel injection technology and engine control systems, you can build a junkyard 5.3 LS with a moderately-sized turbo that will easily crank out over 1,000 HP and drive it every day with no issues at all. We’ve come a long way, to say the least. And that is the point driven home by this video from YouTuber Michael Malone, who is picking up a friend who’s been “away” for a decade and will be rejoining the rest of us in the free world.
Michael picks up his boy and takes him for a ride in his 350Z first, a car that looks great but isn’t putting down a ton of power, so when he’s impressed with the power of the Nissan, Malone knows he has to get him in his Lexus SC300. And you can see when you hit the play button below, that ride is a lot of fun, with more tire spin than anything else. You can see his friend’s eyes giving away the fact that he’s a little sketched out by the power, despite his best efforts to keep it cool. It’s okay, we’ve all been there. No judgement here, fast cars that have a tendency to break the tires loose at any given time are definitely unnerving!
