Can a Tesla Tow? Model X towing a 5000 lb Boat+Trailer up the Mountains
When we’re talking about the cutting edge in technology, Tesla is definitely a company that has made leaps and bounds ahead of just about everyone else in terms of electric and autonomous vehicles. It’s without a doubt that these machines can do some pretty cool things.
As we know, electric motors have been known to make a ton of torque so you would think that along with all of the cool features that these cars and SUVs have, that they would also be able to tow quite a load and this time, we check out a man behind the wheel of a Tesla Model X that takes on the task of pulling a boat and trailer combo that weighs in north of 5000 pounds.
Now, this isn’t just any test but instead, one that gets a little bit more extreme as the test session takes place in the mountains. As anyone who has pulled a load through territory like this will tell you, going up and down inclines this extreme can really put a strain on your equipment, creating tons of friction and destructive heat.
Check out the video below to see how this electric-powered SUV did when it came to pulling this boat up and down the inclines all without the help of a combustion engine. Check out the results for yourself and be sure to tell us what you think of how this electric monster did at handling the load.
