Chuck in the Death Trap Wins Old School Outlaw at Redemption 8.0
Fans who head out to any race on the Redemption 2017 tour are treated to complete races on both days of each event. At Redemption 8.0 last weekend in Louisiana, Chuck brought out the Death Trap for Saturday and jumped in the Old School Outlaw class, where he raced his way to a hard fought win after taking down three tough opponents, a couple of whom you may recognize.
In round one, Chuck drew a tough opponent in Street Outlaws New Orleans star Scott Taylor in his nitrous-injected Cutlass known as John Doe. Chuck jumped out to a lead on Taylor and took the win as Scott got crossed up near the stripe and did a great job of reigning in the out-of-shape Olds. In round two, Chuck faced off with another nitrous-huffing GM, this time the gorgeous Nova of Sam Harvey. Harvey too put up a fight, but the Death Trap was just too much and drove away for the win to go into the finals, where he would face off with another New Orleans alum, Barry Nicholson in The Godfather Camaro.
The Godfather, another nitrous-injected hotrod, gave Chuck the closest race of the day, but was no match for the twin turbocharged Death Trap. It’s worth pointing out, for anybody who finds themselves in the opposite lane beside Chuck, that his is one of few turbo cars to leave as hard as nitrous cars, which usually have a noticeably quicker 60 foot time than boosted hotrods. With that kind of power down low, plus the typical turbo top end, it’s going to be really hard to beat the Death Trap in a heads up race. If you look over and see this car in the other lane, you better pray he loses traction because you probably ain’t gonna beat him straight up!
