“We Found This in a Field” – 1300 HP Twin Turbo Chevelle RIPS
For those unacquainted with Drag Week, it’s an event of epic proportions. The week-long race puts a lot of stress on drivers and their teams. Over the course of the week, teams have to not only race their vehicles every day. In addition, they’re also expected to drive nearly 1000 miles on the street in between. To a regular daily driver, 1000 miles is a walk in the park, no issue. However, racing machines aren’t necessarily designed to do that.
While some of the cars that we find on Drag Week are a little bit tamer, this one is anything but. There are certain rigs that we just can’t believe are able to complete such a journey.
For this particular group of Aussies, they weren’t necessarily the most extreme on Drag Week. However, they definitely ranked somewhere near the top. Let’s just say that this sort of machine could prove to be finicky over the course of such a journey.
To add to the appeal of this boisterous twin-turbo monster, the car’s history simply makes this thing too good to resist. The event brought out a wide variety of machines to compete. Not every driver was wielding a finished showpiece. However, we don’t think that there were too many that were pulled out of a field. For this Chevrolet Chevelle, that was exactly the case. The previous owner might not have been able to bring this thing to its full potential. However, this group of guys was certainly determined to do all that they could in order to get it there.
By following along with the BigKleib34 video below, we’re able to follow along with the American muscle machine-turned Aussie muscle monster. As we catch up with the crew at various stages throughout the week, we hear all about just how challenging things can get.
There were certainly a couple of wrenches thrown in the gears here. It wouldn’t be Drag Week, after all, if everything went perfectly smoothly. However, with a little bit of a boost from the community, the guys from the land down under would pass the test of wills with flying colors.
