This Guy Claims That Maaco Painted His Seats

As the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished, and we have some more proof of this adage in action.

Rob from SuperSpeeders decided to do a car giveaway, and not just some low-key budget-mobile. Oh no, Rob decided to give away a BMW M3 to one lucky subscriber! Before giving the car away, he decided to give it a quick paint job and some cool BMW Motorsports-inspired graphics, and that’s when the trouble started. Rob made the fateful decision to let Maaco – admittedly notorious for cutting corners in their budget-friendly paint jobs – handle the respray, and as one would except, they delivered a Maaco-quality product.

Put simply, this paint job is crap. Besides shoddy taping that resulted in uneven seams and several places that remained yellow, they also got overspray on the tires and even on the muffler. But perhaps the most egregious faux pas is that they somehow managed to get white paint all over the black leather interior. How they even accomplished such a feat is astonishing enough, and the fact that Maaco advised him to “clean the interior” just shows they have no intention of making the situation right. What kind of cleaner does one use to get paint off of leather seats? We can kind of understand the exterior issues, as even Maaco’s top-tier $1,800 job is still considerably less than a good professional paint job would have cost, but paint covering the interior is just absurd.

However, a free M3 is a free M3, so I don’t imagine the winner complained too much. Perhaps there is a trick that can be done to get the paint off the leather. Or even better, since the car was free, maybe the winner just ponied up the change for a better quality paint job and a professional cleaning for the interior!
