This is How They Repair SEMI Truck Tires

Tire repair is one of those processes you can just watch for hours on end. It’s equal parts educational and relaxing, especially when they leave out the talking and just add some light music.

REMA Tip Top sells a whole kit that contains everything you need to perform these repairs, and to assist their clients with the process, they’ve made this video, showing the steps of the process of repairing a big rig tire that has a bolt stuck through the tread. As we have seen in other videos, this process has several steps that have to be followed to do the repair correctly. It seems the most important factor in these repairs is getting the surface both inside and outside the tire scuffed to the correct texture to allow the adhesive compounds to adhere firmly.

This technician goes about cleaning and scuffing the inner and outer tire surface with multiple methods, then he begins the process of patching the puncture itself and rebuilding the tread that was removed at the beginning. When he is finished, the repaired area looks nearly identical to the surrounding area, and after being driven for a few miles should blend in perfectly.
