Lil Wayne’s Rolls-Royce Deal Goes Incredibly Wrong
The business of pairing people with cars can be incredibly lucrative. We aren’t just talking about a dealership, either. Instead, while this line of work is akin to being an automotive dealer, it takes things a step further.
This time, we check in with an interesting story from John Temerian, the founder of Curated who specializes in pairing vintage supercars with collectors.
This time, he tells us about one particular deal that really went awry and mixed a little bit of embarrassment together with a difficult situation. To make matters even worse, there were cameras following the entire thing around making all of these feelings even more intense.
…but hey, how else are you going to learn?
The idea in mind was to broker a deal between Rolls-Royce on one side and Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Cash Money Records on the other.
It was around this time that Lil Wayne was really beginning to climb the ladder to superstardom and MTV saw an opportunity. Therefore, they created a series that followed Lil Wayne around for his birthday and Birdman just so happened to want to gift him a special Rolls-Royce.
Brokering such a deal, our storyteller found himself in for what we’re sure was a good payday that also put a lot of pressure on him. One thing would lead to another and the deal would eventually escalate from one to three cars and even involved a huge unveiling that would all be captured on reality show cameras. Just when it seemed as if there was nothing that could go wrong, everything began to implode and it created a chaotic mess.
In the video below from VINwiki, we learn more about the deal including a last-minute deal reconfiguration that fell apart and a relationship with Rolls-Royce corporate that no longer exists because of it.
